Ryan Laney won $500 for the Boone County Cancer Society in the 2010 Fair Factor Gives Back event. He chose to represent BCCS because his mother had breast cancer and he has other family ties to the organization.

Kathy J. Fields, 54, of Thorntown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 9, 2009, at her residence.

She was born May 25, 1954, in Lafayette, to James W. Dillon and Doris L. (McKinnis) Harrington. She graduated from Ben Davis High School with the class of 1972.

Kathy married Michael D. Fields on Oct. 31, 1998. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2008.

She was accomplished at needle point, enjoyed crocheting, and cherished the time she spent fishing with her husband at Sugar Creek.

Survivors include her mother, Doris Harrington of Thorntown; sister, Janice (Ralph) Robertson of Thorntown; brother, Marvin “Dockie” (Phyllis) McIntyre of Darlington; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Gracie.

In addition to her husband, Kathy was preceded in death by her infant brother, Mark Allen Dillon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.
