Roger Earl Shank


Mr. Roger Earl Shank, 63, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in Lebanon.

Mr. Shank was born May 30, 1946, in Detroit, Mich. He was the son of the late Marvin Theodore and Edith May (Coleman) Shank. He was a resident of East Detroit and graduated from East Detroit High School in 1964.

He married Judith Ann (Perrine) Adair-Shank on July 4, 1991, in Las Vegas, Nev. Mrs. Adair-Shank survives.

For the past fifteen years, Mr. Shank was a medical billing clerk for Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. He worked at the hospital until recently, retiring due to his health. Previously, he had worked in debt collections and in banking. He spent several years as an employee of Amerisure in Indianapolis.

He enjoyed his family, gardening, photography, fishing and camping. In addition, he did a lot of reading and was a chef who enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include his wife, who resides in Lebanon; one daughter, Amanda J. “Mandi” Daniel of Indianapolis; five stepdaughters, Lisa M. Anderson of Lebanon, Shawna C. Essex and husband, John, of Danville, Tonya L. Disbro of Lebanon, Niki A. McKinney and husband, Bleu, of Thorntown, and Melissa S. Adair of Lebanon; sixteen grandchildren, Brianne Meyers, Katie Meyers and Corey Meyers, all of Indianapolis, Joshua Anderson, Chelsea Anderson and Sage Wood, all of Lebanon, Ian Essex and Cassidy Essex, both of Danville, Kyle Disbro, Anna Disbro, Austin Disbro and Dillon Disbro, all of Lebanon, Elizabeth Adair, Bleu McKinney II, Justine McKinney and Alexis McKinney, all of Thorntown; and two great-grandchildren, Brandyn Meyers of Indianapolis and Audrianna Anderson of Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Yost, and a son-in-law, Rev. David Disbro.

Graveside funeral services are to be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery, 935 E. Washington St., Lebanon, with the Rev. Jerry Disbro officiating.

No Visitation will be held.
