Daisy L. Cheek

Daisy L. Cheek, 84, of Hillisburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital in Frankfort.

She was born July 7, 1928, in Lee County, Va., the daughter of Milton and Laura Long Martin.

Daisy married Charlie Cheek on Dec. 29, 1942; he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1981.

She was a homemaker and loved spending time in the yard, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Surviving Daisy are her children, Sue Davis and Joyce (Gerald) Russell, all of Frankfort, Shirley (Daryl) Dean of Whitestown, Wanda (Steve) Maher of Charlotte, N.C., Norma (Wendell) Zetterberg of Hillisburg, and Tim (Jodie) Cheek of Lebanon; brother, Lester Martin of Tennessee; and 16 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; son, Charlie Cheek Jr., grandson, Troy Miller; brothers, Robert Martin, Lonnie Martin and Jesse Martin; and one sister, Katherine Martin.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 9, at Genda Funeral Home, 608 N. Main St., Frankfort. A funeral service for Daisy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Bogue officiating. Burial will follow in Scott Cemetery in Scircleville.
