James L. Thompson, 79, of Lebanon, died Nov. 11, 2012, at Witham Hospital in Lebanon.
James was born June 10, 1933, in Lebanon, to the now late Art and Eva (Dodson) Thompson. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School.
He proudly served his country by enlisting in the National Guard. James worked as union carpenter for 29 years with the Louis Linder & Son Company retiring in 1992. James was married to Judith (Waggoner) Thompson who preceded him in death on Oct. 8, 2012. They shared a life together that lasted over 60 years. He was employed at Stewart-Warner, Chrysler and Pittman-Moore.
James is survived by children, Sallie (Ted) Caldwell of Lebanon, Jeff (Bren) Thompson of New Ross, Greg (Lora) Thompson of Thorntown and Gerry (Vicki) Thompson of Russellville; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Kelley of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by a son, James Thompson II; grandson, Michael Stafford; and a brother, Art Thompson.
There will be no services.
