Carmen Jo Arend



Mrs. Carmen Jo Arend, 73, of Thorntown, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012.  She was born in Terre Haute on Dec. 5, 1938, a daughter to the late Paul and Wanda (Ferrand) Bundy.

Mrs. Arend was reared and educated in Terre Haute and had resided there until moving to Indianapolis in 1957.  She and her husband lived in Amarillo, Texas, for 20 years and returned to Indianapolis in 1987.  They moved to Boone County in 2000.

On April 1, 1955, in Terre Haute, she was married to Donald Raymond Arend.  Mr. Arend passed away on November 26, 2005.

Mrs. Arend worked at the Howard Johnson’s Hotel in Champaign, Ill., as the Executive Housekeeper where she implemented her way of cleaning and the hotel has made it their cleaning practice to this day. She worked as a housekeeper for Homewood Health Care Center in Lebanon and with the children at I.D.T.C. in Indianapolis.

A devoted wife, mother grandmother and great-grandmother, Carmen enjoyed spending time with her family. Her hobbies included reading, listening to music, and writing poetry.

Mrs. Arend attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m., at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., in Lebanon, with Rev. Timothy Kroeger and Edward Arend officiating.

Visitation is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Survivors include five sons, Mr. Donald Paul Arend of Muncie, Mr. Michael Eugene Arend  of Ingalls,  Mr. Edward Thomas Arend of Danville,  Mr. Danny Jo Arend of Amarillo, Texas, and Mr. Patrick Lyndell Arend of Thorntown; a brother, Mr. Daniel Bundy of Terre Haute; a sister, Sharon Bundy of Amarillo, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Ellen “Squeaky” Bundy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the  Boone County Cancer Society, Inc., 117 West Elm St., Lebanon, IN 46052.
