Edna “Irene” Brown, 90, of Advance, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012.
She was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Typo, Ky., to the now late Aiden Lovell and Bertha Owens. She was reared and educated in Crab Orchard, Ky.
Irene married James Brown and moved to Advance. They had one daughter, Patricia Ann, who predeceased her in 1998.
She was a member of the Jamestown church of Christ. She worked at Jones Grocery in Advance and Stewart Warner and Commercial Filters in Lebanon.
Survivors include a sister, Edith Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio, and sister-in-law, Gerry Owens of Advance. She was a devoted aunt to eight nieces and nephews, 14 great, 23 great-great and 13 great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma Brown, and a brother, Aiden Lovell Owens Jr..
Family and friends will gather from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Porter Funeral Home, 315 W. Main St., Jamestown. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home, with Steve Niemeier officiating. Burial will follow in Jamestown IOOF Cemetery.
