Helen Jean Harlos

Mrs. Helen Jean Harlos, 79, of Lebanon, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013.

Mrs. Harlos was born July 31, 1933, in Lebanon. She was the daughter of the now late Isaac Fay and Susanna L. (Grass) Isenhower.

She married William Dee Harlos on Oct. 9, 1959, in Lebanon. Mr. Harlos passed away Dec. 5, 2001.

Mrs. Harlos was raised in Lebanon where she was a 1951 graduate of Lebanon High School. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Stewart Warner in Lebanon. When her husband was the county surveyor, Mrs. Harlos served as the deputy surveyor. She later went to work for the Western Insurance Group as an underwriter, and retired from there in 1985. She was best known as a loving wife and homemaker to her family.

She enjoyed reading, painting, crosswords puzzles, and tending to her flower garden. In addition, she enjoyed living and being active at Lebanon Manor, where she considered all residents and staff as part of her loving family.    

Mrs. Harlos was a member of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, Lebanon.

Survivors include three children, Susan E. (Jeff) Redman of Lebanon, Jean Anne (James) Daugherty of Indianapolis and William D. (Riki) Harlos of Roachdale; one sister, Jessie (Duane) Morris of Lebanon; one brother, Fay (Sharon) Isenhower of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Justin G. Redman and Ryan D. Redman, both of Lebanon, James R. Daugherty II and Daniel J. Daugherty, of Indianapolis, Shane A. Harlos of Rockville, and Bryson Harlos and Brynnan Harlos, both of Roachdale; and six great-grandchildren, Erica McPeak, Colton Ranney, Payten Redman, Payge Redman, Wes Redman and Wyatt Redman.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Harlos was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher L. Redman, and a sister, Martha Pearl.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Boone County Senior Services, 515 CrownPointe Drive, Lebanon. Interment will follow at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to Myers Mortuary, Lebanon.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
