Calvin “Leo” Smith

Mr. Calvin “Leo” Smith, 86, of Lebanon, Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Smith was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Virginia. He was the son of the late Sherman and Mossie (Williams) Smith. At the age of 16, he moved to Boone County.

He married Carolyn Sue McRoberts on Sept. 11, 1949, in Lebanon. Mrs. Smith survives.  

For several years, he farmed in Elizaville. He also worked for Vandivier Trucking and Farm Bureau Co-op as a truck driver, before retiring in the late 1980s.   

Mr. Smith was devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Lebanon Eagles and Teamsters Local No. 135, Indianapolis.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue Smith of Lebanon; two daughters, Suzette (Charles “Buster”) Stockton and Karin (Rob) Knox, all of Lebanon; one brother and three sisters; three grandchildren, Charles (Susan) Stockton Jr. of Frankfort, Trisha (David) Black of Lebanon and Justin (Shaunasee) Knox of Thorntown; one stepgrandchild, Jessica Stockton of Indianapolis; one great-grandchild, Logan Black of Lebanon; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Jacob Taylor of Indianapolis, and Todd Swisher and J.J. Cocttrell, both of Frankfort. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews survive, including Jerry Lynn Neidlinger, Jessica Neidlinger and Sierra Foster.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sara Ann Smith, two sisters and a brother.

Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Millard Branson officiating. Private interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
