Elizabeth J. “Betty” Green

— Zionsville

1919-2012

Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Green, 93, of Zionsville, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Hoosier Village Health Center, Indianapolis.

Betty was born Feb. 9, 1919, in Lebanon. She was the daughter of the now late Ollie Merritt and Evelyn Janet (Rowan) Berry. A lifelong resident of Boone County, she graduated from Lebanon High School in 1936.

She married Paul Howard Green on Aug. 30, 1941, in Lebanon. They celebrated 64 years together before Mr. Green passed away on April 15, 2006.

During World War II, while her husband served in the military, Betty lived with her parents and worked at the Driver’s License Bureau in Lebanon. In 1969, she and her husband moved to Zionsville, where she had since resided. She was a precinct committeeman in Lebanon and Zionsville for about 30 years.

Betty was a very loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For approximately 20 years, she served as her daughter’s Girl Scout Leader in Lebanon. She and her husband often traveled to Dogtooth Lake in Canada.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon, Ulen Country Club in Lebanon, Tri Kappa Sorority in Lebanon and honorary member in Zionsville, Zionsville Museum Guild, Patrick Sullivan Museum, Friend of Hussey Mayfield Library and Boone County Senior Services.

Survivors include two children, Michael D. (Jerelyn) Green of Arthur, Ill., and Janet S. (Steven) Jacob of Whitestown; five grandchildren, Cory (Lee) Green of Tuscola, Ill., Justin (Monica) Green of Arthur, Jeffrey (Susan) Jacob of Whitestown, Jill Jacob of Lyons, Colo., and Christopher Jacob of New Orleans, La.; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert C. Berry.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
