M. Richard Fomley

M. Richard Fomley, 80, of Thorntown, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Lebanon.

Mr. Fomley was born on Jan. 9, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of John and Rose Fomley. Both parents preceded him in death.  He graduated from Waite Toledo Ohio High School.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Fomley married Delorese Viles in October 1964, in Bowling Green, Ohio. She passed away March 25, 2008.

He was a dock worker. He worked for Roadway Express in Toledo for 32 years, and then retired.

Mr. Fomley enjoyed golfing, bird watching and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon.

Survivors include daughters, Cindy (Dave) Swartz of Thorntown, Tamara (Dave) Bryant of Nicaragua, and Amber (Steve) Hallowell of Charlotte, N.C.; sons, Rick (Elizabeth) Fomley of Huntington, Jim Becker of Gainsville, Fla., and Randy Becker of Portland, Ore.; and 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Daughter Deanne Schnyder also preceded him in death.

Calling will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown. Services will follow at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Pastor Scott Mauch officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Plain Cemetery, Thorntown.
