Jeffrey A. Hunter

1956-2012

Jeffrey Allen Hunter, 55, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at his residence.

Jeff was born on his mother’s birthday, July 1, 1956, in Tipton. He was the son of William “Bill” and Mary (Rott) Hunter. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1974. He lived in Tipton; Sheridan, Wyo.; and finally Lebanon for the last 22 years. He attended Ivy Tech and worked as a welder, in machine alterations and as a repairman. He worked for the Large Engine Center at Caterpillar in Lafayette for more than 23 years.

He married Shirley Wheeler on Dec. 2, 1989; she survives.

Jeff was a lover of nature, God’s creation. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved his family, his church, and was an excellent provider for his wife and children. He was an elder at Lebanon Christian Church, and he and Shirley were very actively a part of mentoring, teaching, counseling and doing service for the Lord.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Hunter; his wife, Shirley, who resides in Lebanon; daughter, Dustina (David) Hunter-Jackson of Tipton; sons, Joshua (Lyndsey) Hunter and Jacob Hunter, both of Tipton, Rick (Sheilla) Strouse of Lebanon and Dave (Cheryl) Strouse of Greensburg; granddaughters, Addi Hunter, Emily and Angie Jackson and Tiffany Strouse; grandsons, Brody Strouse, Jeremy Reed and Nick Taylor; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Reed. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Hunter of Tipton; and brothers, John (Patty) Hunter of Indianapolis, Joe Hunter of Tipton and Jerry (Jean) Hunter of Riverside, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Family and friends will gather from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 31, and from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Lebanon Christian Church, 610 W. 250 N, Lebanon. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with Lee Faust officiating. Mr. Hunter will be laid to rest in the Old Union Cemetery in Jamestown.
