James O. “Jim” Sloan, 73, of Lebanon, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, in Indianapolis.
Jim was a native of Lebanon, born Feb. 16, 1939. His parents were the now late Myron Sloan and Cora Irene (Angleton) Sloan Turner.
He was reared and educated in Perry and Harrison Townships in Boone County. He graduated from Perry Central High School in 1957, and later attended Butler University in Indianapolis. He moved to Lebanon in 1959.
Jim married Charlotte Louise (Moss) Boone in 1959, in Lebanon; they divorced. He then married Meridith Ann Stoner on Dec. 1, 1967, in Lebanon. Mrs. Sloan survives.
He first worked at the Herr Elevator in Boone County. In 1962, he began working for Eli Lilly in Indianapolis, where he worked as a production technician 3, before retiring in 2006.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending various sporting events. Throughout his life, Jim was especially interested in those sports that involved his children and grandchildren.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon.
Survivors include his wife, Meridith A. Sloan of Lebanon; children, Rick A. (Terri) Sloan of Lebanon, Charles “Chuck” M. Sloan of Chevy Chase, Md., Cindy (Jim) Koryciak of Folkston, Ga., George M. (Erin) Sloan of Lebanon and Jami R. (partner, Stacey Bogardus) Sloan of New Palestine; grandchildren, Brandon Lashbrook, Zachary Sloan, Courtney (Eric) Reagan, Sydney Sloan, Eli Sloan and Brynner Sloan; and great-grandchildren, Aaron Lashbrook and Zander Reagan.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 28, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, with the Rev. David Grieger officiating.
