Rosalie Jean Limp, 82, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at the Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.
Rosalie was the daughter of Brian W. and Monta Marie (Reed) Smith; she was born in Lebanon on May 16, 1930. She was reared and educated in Lebanon and graduated from the Lebanon High School in 1948. Rosalie married Kenneth D. Limp on June 19, 1949, in the Lebanon Baptist Church; he survives. Together the Limps owned and operated a family farm and Rosalie loved and cared for her family as a homemaker.
Her memberships included the First Baptist Church in Lebanon where she was a member of the choir for over 60 years. She also served on several church boards, was a youth sponsor and taught kindergarten for many years. Other memberships included Psi Iota Xi Sorority for 10 years; 20-year member of the Witham Hospital Volunteers; 15-year member of Boone County Health Board; 22 year member of the Boone County Cancer Society having served as president and providing transportation to many patients. Rosalie was the 2008 recipient of the David S. Ritchey Distinguished Service Award from the Lebanon Education Foundation.
She is survived by her loving husband; daughter Janis Koons of Petoskey, Mich.; brother Brian L. Smith; grandchildren Melissa (Nick) Fishel and their children Lanie and Micah, Carrie (Terry) Williamson and their children Savanna, Drew, Garrett and Courtney, Jessica (Jeremy) Lollar and their children Addison and Averie, Jason (Nicole) Limp and their child McKenzie Marlow, Sarah (Brian) Schopieray and their child Sophie, and Laura (Chris) Leach and nephew Aaron Walker Everett. She was preceded in death by her parents; children Gary and David Limp; and sister Phyllis Smith Everett.
Family and friends will gather on Sunday, Nov. 4 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. The Rev. David Wright will officiate her funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 5 in the mortuary. Mrs. Limp will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
