Richard Andrew “Rich” Vanlandingham,

Mr. Richard Andrew “Rich” Vanlandingham, 72, of Lebanon, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.

Mr. Vanlandingham was born in Dow City, Iowa, on Sept. 19, 1940.  He was the son of the late Forrest Andrew and Gail Victoria (Lee) Vanlandingham. His father also died on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012.

Reared and educated in Mankato, Minnesota, Richard was a 1958 graduate of Mankato High School.  He then completed an Associates Degree at Mankato State College.  While in college, he was an employee of Penney’s where he became manager of the store following graduation.  He then managed stores in Winona, Anoka, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He resided in Goodview, Minnesota, near Minneapolis prior to moving to manage the store in Rugby, North Dakota in 1972.  He moved to Lebanon, in 1980 and managed the J.C. Penney’s Store until it closed in 1990. He worked about 10 years at Hendrickson Trailer Systems in Lebanon before retiring in 2005.

He was formerly married to Cindy L. (Evans) Vanlandingham and they were divorced.  His companion since 1990 has been Marjorie Theresa “Terre” Drummond.

A devoted companion, father, and grandfather, Rich enjoyed his family.  He also liked to fish, hunt, golf and play cards.  Antiques were of interest to him and he enjoyed searching for them.

He was a member of the V.F.W. in Lebanon, American Legion in Lebanon and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lebanon.

Survivors include his companion, Ms. Terre Drummond of Lebanon; children, Mr. Shane L. Vanlandingham and wife, Sherry, of Lebanon, Mr. Dallas R. Vanlandingham of Lebanon, Ms. India Rozzeo of Greenwood, Mrs. Tara Rucker and husband, Rob, of Franklin, and Mrs. Tonya Kjos of Minot, N.D.; step-children, Mrs. Shanda E. McPike and husband, Ian, of Whitestown, Mr. John P. King and wife, Nora of Lake Orion, Mich., and Ms. Victoria A. King of Fortville; a brother, Marlin Vanlandingham of Fairchild, Wisc.; sisters, Mrs. Donna Mountain and husband, John of Waterloo, Iowa, and Mrs. Judy Spear and husband, Hank  of Detroit, Mich., 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren

A son, Kevin A. Vanlandingham, is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon St., in Lebanon.

Visitation is planned on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m., at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.
