Ruth Dulin Walker of Whitestown, passed away on March 10, 2010 at Homewood Health Campus, where she had been a resident for six years.
Ruth, who was born on April 26, 1920, was the only daughter of Claude Dulin and Vergie (Kouns) Dulin. Her parents and brothers John K., George, and Roy all preceded her in death.
She graduated from Whitestown High School, class of 1938.
Frank M. Walker and Ruth were married on May 18, 1940. They began housekeeping on 88th Street in Indianapolis. Ruth had two sons, Bill (Sharon) of Zionsville and Charles Olin, who died in infancy.
In 1952 Ruth, Frank, and Bill moved to a farm just south of Whitestown, where they resided at the time of Frank’s death on March 5, 1996. Ruth continued to live on the farm property until 2004.
Ruth was a kind and generous woman. She was known for her pie baking. Visiting people who were sick at home or in nursing care facilities was her passion. She had numerous people whom she called every week, just to check on them.
Ruth enjoyed her flowers and her yard as long as she was able. However, her three granddaughters, Janelle Walker of Dallas, TX, Pam Hill-Gibson (Jay) of Whitestown, and Janae Walker Bronson (Glenn) of Chelmsford, Mass., were a top priority. She enjoyed being a great-grandmother to Jacy Hill perhaps most of all.
Ruth looked forward to lunch every year with the Whitestown Alumni, her high school classmates, the Boone County 4-H Fair, Indiana State Fair, and the Thorntown Turning of the Leaves Festival. At Salem United Methodist Church where she was a member, she enjoyed the chicken noodle dinner and the ice cream social.
Ruth was a woman of simple tastes. Her home, her church, her family, and her friends were all she ever needed to be happy.
