Virginia Elizabeth (Galvin) Dison


Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth (Galvin) Dison, 83, of Indianapolis, formerly of Lebanon, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, in Indianapolis.

Mrs. Dison was raised in the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home from the age of five until she was 17 years old. After she no longer lived there, she continued to be a very active alumna of the children’s home.

She was married to Ernest E. Dison for 47 years. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dison worked at Naval Avionics prior to her marriage. She was then a homemaker and the family matriarch, active in Dison Heating for over 61 years. She was compassionate, kind and friendly, and loved and served her family and friends.

Survivors include sons, Lex, Steve, Anthony and Rick Dison; brother, Marvin Galvin; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers, Charlie and Jim Galvin.

Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Conkle Funeral Home Speedway Chapel, 4925 W. 16th St., Speedway. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at the funeral home. Burial will be at West Ridge Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
