Robert Kent “Bob” Andrews

Mr. Robert Kent “Bob” Andrews, 71, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at  Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.

Mr. Andrews was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Indianapolis. He was the son of the late Clarence C. “Bob” and Mildred F. (Owens) Andrews.

He married Phyllis Ann Turner on Oct. 5, 1966, in Carmel. Mrs. Andrews survives. They enjoyed more than 43 years of marriage.

Mr. Andrews spent much of his life in Indianapolis. He attended Broad Ripple High School. He resided in Indianapolis before he moved to Lebanon. After returning to Indianapolis for several years, he moved back to Lebanon in 2007. 

He was employed for 13 years at Goodyear in Indianapolis. For several years, he worked for Denny Griffith for Griffith Hardwood Floors in Indianapolis. Prior to retiring in 2000, he spent 12 years as head custodian for Cherry Tree Elementary School in Carmel. He retired at age 62. 

Mr. Andrews was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his family, golfing and fishing.

He was a member of the 49th Street Christian Church in Indianapolis.

Survivors include his wife, who resides in Lebanon; sons, Robert K. Andrews Jr. of Indianapolis, Randy J. (Kathy) Andrews of Chicago, Ill., and Phil Lambert of Lebanon; sister, Patty (Frank) Ellis of Lebanon; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lambert of Centerville, and Jake Andrews and Luke Andrews, both of Chicago.

A son, Mark Anthony Andrews, and a sister, Shirley Clements, are deceased.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. on Sunday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the minister John C. Samples officiating. Cremation will follow services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the cancer fund of the donor’s choice.
