Stanley D. Armstrong

Mr. Stanley D. Armstrong, 61, of Lebanon, with his last breath, he loosed the bounds of earth with a great boom of thunder, the angels escorted Stan home to be with his Lord and Savior. Stan arrived in Heaven on the morning of Dec. 20, 2012.

He was born June 22, 1951, in Lebanon, to the late Loren Earl and Fern Elizabeth (Everett) Armstrong. In his youth he attended Perry Central Elementary School, and graduated from Lebanon Sr. High School with the class of 1969.

Stan married his high school sweetheart, Linda S. Basey on Aug. 18, 1973. Mrs. Armstrong survives.

He worked his whole life as a plumber, at one time being the youngest Master Plumber in the state of Indiana. He attended Heritage Bible Baptist College and on Oct. 21, 1989, he became an Ordained Minister. He served 16 years as the Youth Pastor at Lebanon Bible Baptist Church.

At the age of 26 his journey with cancer started, and he fought it hard for 35 years. He was always cheerful and never complained about his lot in life. He had the gift of an encourager.

His greatest joy was his son, Anthony “Andy,” and granddaughters, Peyton and Paige Armstrong. In his granddaughter’s words, he was the “Best Papaw.”

Stan loved and worshiped the Lord and served Him faithfully. He was a member of Zionsville Fellowship Church in Zionsville.

An avid Indianapolis Colts fan, Stan held season tickets since 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Armstrong; his son, Anthony “Andy” (Jennifer) Armstrong; two granddaughters, Peyton and Paige Armstrong; two sisters, Nina (Carl) Crane  and Rebecca (David) Merritt, all of Lebanon; and a brother, J. Edward (Kim) Armstrong of Brownsburg. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and a loving church family.

In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by a brother, William E. Armstrong. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Tom Streeter and the Rev. Bob Ash officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Fayette.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
