Mrs. Nancy Eva Golden Turpin, 71, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Turpin was born Sept. 20, 1941, in Fountain County. She was the daughter of the now late Ronald Lee and Margaret Opal (Foxworthy) Jackson.
She married Walter Johnson “Walt” Turpin on April 4, 2004, in Lebanon; Mr. Turpin survives. Previously she had been the wife of Eldon Rex Larew, Lloyd Carroll Holladay and Ernest Ray Golden.
Reared and educated in Fountain County, Mrs. Turpin graduated from Waynetown High School. Her early married years were spent in New Market, prior to moving to Crawfordsville. She had also resided in Darlington and Lizton prior to moving to Lebanon in 1979.
While in Crawfordsville, she was a factory worker, an employee of the Journal Review, and then operated her own restaurant for a few years. In Lebanon she operated The Lower Level in the basement of the Knotty Pine, and later moved it to her home and called her business Country Collectibles. For a couple of years she had a store on the Lebanon square called Home Sweet Home, and then again moved her business to her home on North Lebanon Street, concentrating on herbs and vitamins. She was active until the time of her recent illness.
Mrs. Turpin was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her family and their activities. In addition to being an avid Indiana Pacers fan, she liked to read, sew, paint, do woodwork and flower arranging.
She was a member of Providence Christian Church at Shannondale, and was formerly in the Order of the Eastern Star in Alamo.
Survivors include children, Lynnette K. (Robert) Cox of Thorntown, Scott A. (Maria) Larew of Lebanon, Kristi A. (Karl) Schuh of Indianapolis and Lori Libbey of Lebanon; stepchildren, Walter J. “John” (June) Turpin III of Winfield, Mo., Bryan S. (Alecia) Turpin of Winfield, Dawn E.
