Mr. Noble Martin

Mr. Noble “Nobe” or “Nobie” L. Martin, 85, of Lebanon, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Witham Hospital in Lebanon.   

Mr. Martin was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Ferndale, a son of Fred A. and Nora A. (Knauer) Martin. Both parents are deceased. He married Madonna (Carroll) Martin on March 4, 1949. She survives. Together, they spent 63 years of love and marriage. Family harmony was very important to him and he had an implied standard of excellence for his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Martin enlisted in the United States Army after graduating from high school and served in World War II. He was a graduate of Indiana University. Upon graduation, Nobe worked for the Stewart-Warner Corp. as an Accountant, Controller and General Manager for 45 years. Nobe was a long-time member of Lebanon Christian Church, and a life member of Ulen Country Club and the American Legion in Lebanon. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with Donna, his son, Dan; grandsons, Jason and Brad and best friends, Fay Isenhower and Mike White, as well as many other golfers in Lebanon and in Orlando, Fla., where they spent several winters. Nobe was a special guy to all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by children: Dan Martin of Lebanon and Debbie (Mark) Lee of Lebanon; grandchildren: Jason Lee, Janna Lee, Jacki Lee, Jared Lee, Brad Martin, Lindsey Sherron and Chase Martin; and great-grandchildren: Addy Lee, Sam Lee, Anna Martin, Allie Martin and Ryland Sherron. He was preceded in death by sisters,  Francis Hennis and Wilma Knoop.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, Feb. 1, from 4 until 8 p.m. with the Rev. Lee Faust officiating his funeral at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Mr. Martin will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
