DeVon E. "Ed" Price

1936-2012

DeVon Edward “Ed” Price, 76, of Lebanon, formerly of Thorntown, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon.

The son of Haven and Margaret (Trapp) Price, Ed was born Jan. 23, 1936, in Thorntown. He graduated from Thorntown High School in 1956.

Ed worked as a tanker driver for the Amoco Oil Company for 28 years, retiring in 1993. His memberships included the Boone County Shrine Club, Murat Shrine in Indianapolis, Scottish Rite Indianapolis Valley, Sons of the American Legion, Lebanon Elks Club and the Lebanon Eagles Club.

He enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida, spending time with his family at Raccoon Lake, fishing and hunting.

On June 22, 1956, Ed married Judith L. Hickson; together they celebrated over 55 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife; children, William Andrew “Andy” (Teresa) Price of Thorntown, Joe Edward Price of Lebanon, Brian Robert Price of Athens, Ga., and Lynda Joy Price of Lebanon; grandchildren, Cara (Rob) Milton of Indianapolis, DeVon Andrew “Drew” Price of Thorntown and Lauren Ashley Price of Lebanon; great-grandchildren, Emma, Laurel and Carmen Milton of Indianapolis; siblings, Virginia Locklear of Indianapolis, Max Price of California, Sue (Pat McGinley) Miller of Lebanon, Glenn Argyle Price of Greenfield, and his twin, Leon Raymond Price of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Lee Price; and siblings, Kenny Price, Don Price and Patty Courvall. 

Family and friends will gather from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, with Eagles rites at 8 p.m., in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. The funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the mortuary, with Brother Max Price officiating. Ed will be laid to rest in the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
