Mr. Charles William Hunter, 75, of Colfax, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 5, 1936, in Gentryville, the son of Narl and Mayme (Owenings) Hunter. He was reared and educated in Spencer County, and graduated from Dale High School in Dale.
He married Rita Jane Hoskins on Jan. 12, 1957, in Battleground. Mrs. Hunter passed away Aug. 23, 2006.
Charles was a project engineer for Dow Chemical in Zionsville for 41 years. He also served as Boone County Precinct Committeeman for Sugar Creek Township.
Charles loved his family and loyal dog, Heidi, dearly. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, 4-H, camping, fishing and hunting. He was a coach of Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for more than 20 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include four children, Jeffery A. (Sharon) Hunter of Lafayette, Michael E. Hunter of Darlington, Sandra K. (Dan) Rowe of Elkhart and Charles W. (Angela) Hunter II of Lebanon; two sisters, Joan Lampert and Ginny Henry; three brothers, Gene Hunter, Phil (Shirley) Hunter and Bob (Betty) Hunter; seven grandchildren, Kyle A. Hunter and Allison J. Hunter of Lafayette, Stephanie D. Bartley and Kristine D. Hunter of Frankfort, Cassandra J. DeWulf of Mishawaka, and Crew W. Hunter and Adra C. Hunter of Lebanon; and five great-grandchildren, Hailey Bartley and Chase Bartley of Frankfort, Dravin Walker of Lebanon, and Derek Walker and Kage Walker of Frankfort.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. James Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at the Sugar Plain Cemetery west of Thorntown.
