Mr. Hubert Russell “Rusty” Ping, 61, of Lebanon, died Thursday morning, Aug. 26, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Ping was born in Lebanon, on Aug. 17, 1949. He was the son of the late Hubert C. Ping and Frances L. (Kelley) Ping, who survives.
He spent most of his life in Lebanon. He attended Lebanon High School and graduated in 1969 from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.
Mr. Ping married Sandra Kay Kincaid on Aug. 30, 1970, in Lebanon. Mrs. Ping survives. They would have celebrated their fortieth anniversary on Monday.
He resided in Bloomington for a year and then Bedford for seven years. During that time he owned the Firestone Store in Bedford. He continued his education and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Chadwick University in 1990. Active in sales, he helped to move the gasoline sales industry into credit card sales. He was employed by Gascard Fuel Automation and CanMex. He was most recently employed as vice president of sales for AutoFusion of San Diego, Calif.
Mr. Ping was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed his family and their activities.
He was a member of Harvestime Fellowship in Jamestown, a board member for the Crown of Thorns Campground in Thorntown and was formerly in the Exchange Club of Bedford.
Survivors include his wife, who resides in Lebanon; two sons, Aaron R. (Heather) Ping and Eric R. (Krystal) Ping, all of Lebanon; mother, who resides in Thorntown; one sister, Cynthia L. (Greg) Holmes of Thorntown; and three grandchildren, Austin T. Ping, Kallie A. Leib and Erika L. Ping, all of Lebanon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Art Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
