Mr. George Francis Gilpin, 52, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Mr. Gilpin was born in Broadhead, Ky., on July 18, 1958. He was the son of the late George Z. Gilpin and Betty Janie (Foley) Gilpin. He was reared and educated in Stanford, Ky., where he graduated from high school.
He married Trisha Lynn Norton in New Brunswick on Jan. 19, 1991. Mrs. Gilpin survives.
Mr. Gilpin served in the United States Marine Corps from 1978 to 1982, and in the Indiana National Guard in the early 1980s.
He was a factory employee for a number of years, was employed at Shumate Business Forms and then worked in the Lebanon Industrial park.
Mr. Gilpin was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed his home.
Survivors include his wife, who resides in Lebanon; three children, Patricia L. “Patty” Gilpin, George Alexander “Alex” Gilpin and Ian A. E. Gilpin, all of Lebanon; and one brother, Paul William (Barbara) Gilpin of Mt. Vernon, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Z. Gilpin and his mother, Betty J. Gilpin Griffith.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services with military rites will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Matt Skiles officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
