Jean Ritchie Mossman McVey

Mrs. Jean Ritchie Mossman McVey, 92, of Lebanon, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at CrownPointe in Lebanon.

Jean was born March 1, 1921, a daughter of the now late Morris Ritchie and Zora (Schulemire) Ritchie. She was a lifelong resident of Lebanon, and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1939.

She married Jack Mossman on March 11, 1944. Mr. Mossman passed away Jan. 8, 1981. She later married Vern McVey in 1983. Mr. McVey passed away in 1995.

Mrs. McVey worked at the Hicks Body Company during the later war years (1942-1944), part time in the advertising department at The Lebanon Reporter, and at American States Insurance Company from 1978 to 1982.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was, despite her diminutive stature, a foundation the family could lean on.

Jean was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church and, until her death, the oldest member who was baptized in the church. She had been a choir member and Sunday school teacher. She also helped with Vacation Bible School. She was a 35-year active member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa. She enjoyed playing bridge with several of her best friends from high school for more than 70 years. She also enjoyed reading as well as working crossword and word search puzzles.

Survivors include two sons, John Mossman of Lakewood, Colo., and Dan Mossman of Lebanon; three grandchildren, Melinda Mossman of Centennial, Colo., Ben (Kris) Mossman of Parker, Colo., and Luke Mossman of Denver, Colo.; one great-grandson, Kaden Mossman of Parker; and former daughter-in-law, Grace Mossman of Centennial.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tim Mossman; two brothers, Morris Ritchie Jr. and Edwin Ritchie; and two sisters, Martha Wright and Mary Lou Barton.

Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 910 Fordice Road, Lebanon.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Jim Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Myers Mortuary, Lebanon, is handling the arrangements.
