Marjorie Bell Roach

The family of Marjorie Bell Roach, 83, of Zionsville, is blessed to know that she has gone to the house of the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2013.

She was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Vigo County, a daughter of the now late Henry and Eathel E. (Fox) Arthur. Reared and educated in Prairie Creek, she was a graduate of Prairie Creek High School.

She married Lester Daniel Roach on March 26, 1954, in Vigo County. Mr. Roach survives.

In 1962, Marjorie’s family moved to the Whitestown area, and for the past eight years she had resided in Zionsville. For many years, she worked as a clerical supervisor at Detroit Diesel Allison. After retirement, she worked for National City Bank, at both the Whitestown and Zionsville branches, for several years.

Marjorie was very active in the church choir, VBS, church missions and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. She was a former board member of Zionsville Meadows, where she also spent many hours as the activities coordinator.

Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be loved and missed by all.

She was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Whitestown and Whitestown OES No. 248.

Survivors include husband, Lester D. Roach of Zionsville; two daughters, Nancy (Gordon) Tucker of Antwerp, Ohio, and Theresa Artman-Stuart of Florida; two grandchildren, Crystal (Jeremy) Miller of Waterloo; and Troy (Debby) Artman of Stuart, Fla.; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gerald (Jane) Arthur of Petersburg.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Arthur.

The family gives special thanks to the staff at St. Vincent Hospice for their gentle care and kindness to Marjorie and the family.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today, March 12, and 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Bourne officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.
