David J. Cooper

Our beloved David went home to be with his heavenly father on Jan. 9, 2013, at the age of 69. He was born in Carmel to David Lamar and Edith Lillian Marley Cooper on July 14, 1943.

He worked in telecommunications for over 44 years, working the last 10 years at St. Vincent’s.

David ran 15 marathons, over 15 mini marathons, crossed the Grand Canyon in one day and had run up Pike’s Peak with his good friend Bob Thompson. He traveled extensively, having been in all 50 states, most of them more than once. He also had visited six continents.

He was an active member of Grace Community Church of Noblesville.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lee (Gundersen) Cooper; son, Adam Cooper; stepson, Chris Glover; daughter-in- law, Tina (Wilkins) Glover; five grandchildren, Dusty (Daniel) Harmon, Christina (Jason) Flint, Sloan and Skyler Haywood, and Miles Cooper; four great-grandchildren whom he enjoyed, Austin and Makenzie Harmon and Alex and Abigail Flint; sister, Karen (Bob) Long of Tuscon, Ariz.; four nieces, Melinda Ernest of Arizona, Debbie Lovell, Sandra Lovell of Virginia, and Robin (Lovell) Dial of Minnesota; and two nephews, Joseph Taylor of Arizona and Stephen Lovell of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carmen Cooper, his parents, one uncle and four aunts.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 East 10th St., Sheridan. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Crown View Cemetery, Sheridan.
