Mrs. Marium Joyce Bourlard, 84, of Jamestown, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Marium was born July 30, 1928, in Hopkins County, Ky. She was a daughter of the late Lexie and Mamie (Melton) McGregor.
She married Klebert William Bourlard on Feb. 11, 1956, in Shawneetown, Ill. Mr. Bourlard passed away Sept. 18, 1992.
Marium enjoyed a career in sales as a representative for Studio Girl, and later, Tupperware. She excelled with Tupperware, advancing to a regional management level. In order to be home with her children, she left that career. In addition to being a homemaker, she channeled her talent and energy into community involvement as a tireless leader with the Cub Scouts, and as a volunteer in many other charitable activities. After rearing her children, she continued her caregiving through her work at local nursing homes. Most recently she fulfilled her desire to share by assisting in activities of the Sunday school program at her church.
Throughout her life, Marium was recognized for her artistic abilities. She expressed herself through various media including crochet, quilting, floral arrangement and gardening, to name a few. As an artisan of crochet, she was extremely talented and prolific. She enjoyed exhibiting her work at shows and accepting commissioned assignments. In recent years, Marium’s hours in her garden were her happiest. Her garden design reflected her mastery of space, color and balance, as well as seasonal change.
Marium was a member of New Life Christian Church in Lizton.
Marium’s family would like to thank Dr. Elaine Habig, her entire staff and all the personnel at Witham Memorial Hospital for their kind and dedicated care over the years.
Survivors include four sons, Dennis M. (Jane) Bourlard of Brown County, James P. Bourlard of Hope, Steven T. Choate and Joseph A. Choate; stepson, Micheal K. Bourlard of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Georgiana Raney, and one sister, Betty Sue Smith.
Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Christian Church, 1025 N, Lizton, IN 46149; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
