Donald E. Greene

Mr. Donald E. Greene, 86, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.

Donald was born May 7, 1926, in Indianapolis, the son of the now late John and Viola (Griffin) Greene. Reared and educated in Lebanon, he graduated from Lebanon High School. Following school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably.

He married Joan I. Rhodes on July 10, 1953, in Lebanon. Mrs. Greene passed away Jan. 13, 1993.

For many years, Donald worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad in Frankfort as a derrick crane operator. He retired from there in the late 1980s.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved the time spent taking trips with his family and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda (John) Shrake and Donna (Brent) Williams, all of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Eric Hollingsworth of Westfield and Christina Williams of Lebanon; sister-in-law, Betty Greene of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, John Greene and Thomas William “Tommy” Greene.

Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Steve Jaggers officiating. Entombment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
