Robert L. Needham

Robert L. Needham, 92, of Lafayette, died at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Creasy Springs Health Campus. Born May 16, 1920, in Thorntown, he was the son of the late Walter L. and Anna (Woody) Needham. Bob was raised in Boone County and graduated from Thorntown High School. He was an honorably discharged Army Air Corps veteran of WW II.  On May 20, 1951 in Dover. Bob married Mary Etta Graham and she preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 1999. Bob was a seed technician with Ag Alumni of Romney for 20 years and for 16 years worked for Farmers Forage Research at Battle Ground. He was a member of First Christian Church in Lafayette and the American Legion Post in Thorntown. Bob enjoyed Purdue basketball and Purdue sports and loved traveling.

Bob is survived by his two daughters, Janet Dickerson and her husband, Dr. J. Brooks Dickerson of Lafayette and Marilyn Robison and her husband John Robison of Kokomo, one sister, Eunice Brumit of West Lafayette, five grandchildren, Leah Asher (husband, Nicholas) of Denver, Co., Diana Dickerson of Denver, Co., Bethany Campbell (husband, Kent) of Grayslake, Ill., Andrew Robison of Ft. Collins, Co., and Jeremy Robison a student at Purdue University in West Lafayette; a very special friend, Jocelyn McCoy of Lafayette, and his first great-grandchild expected in July. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Etta, his parents, and a brother, Thomas Needham.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the service at noon on Saturday, Feb. 23, at First Christian Church in Lafayette with Pastor Greg Eberhard officiating. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Thorntown, with military honors by the Thorntown American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Ministry of First Christian Church. Hippensteel Funeral Home has been entrusted with care.
