Nancy Ann (Threlkeld) Abel, 64, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012.
Nancy was born Nov. 1, 1947, in Lebanon, to John and Shirley Threlkeld of Dover. She graduated from Thorntown High School in 1965, and later from Indiana University School of Nursing in 1970.
She spent 42 years as a labor and delivery nurse with Community Hospitals, giving loving nursing care to mothers and newborns as well as assisting doctors with the most difficult medical situations.
Nancy was an active member of Carmel Christian Church, always giving of herself to others with love.
Aside from spending time with her family, Nancy was an avid IU sports fan and loved watching Bobby Knight coach the Hoosiers.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Andrew) Tynan, and son, Michael Abel; grandson, Maxwell Tynan; sisters, Sherry (Roger) Rose, Gloria (Richard) Richardson and Pam (Tom) Lewellen; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Peggy Walker; and brother, Roger Threlkeld.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Carmel Christian Church, 463 E. Main St., Carmel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the church, followed by a private burial.
