Francis Marie Summers

Francis Marie Summers, 89, of Brazil, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

Mrs. Summers was born April 11, 1919, in Clay County, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Bessie Boyd Mercer. She graduated from Van Buren High School. She married Howard Summers Feb. 24, 1940, in Brazil.

She was a member of the Lena Good Neighbors Club and the Clay County Extension Homemakers Club and she attended the Lena United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, Eugene Summers and wife, Brenda, of Reelsville, David Summers and wife, Kanene, of Lebanon, and Don Summers of Brazil; grandchildren, Kara Donner of Lebanon, Laura Summers of Reelsville, Kyle Summers and wife, Carrie, of Noblesville, Gena Brock and husband, Adam, of Otterbein, Justin Summers of Tabernash, Colo., Jason Summers of Brazil, and Kelsie Summers of Marshall, Ill; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Adamson and husband, Fred, of Brazil; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Summers was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mable Mercer; brother, Melvin Mercer; and sister-in-law, Lurene Mercer.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour before funeral services on Monday at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington St., Brazil. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Kumpf and Myron James officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lena United Methodist Church, 10932 S. Lena Road, Brazil, IN 47834.
