John W. Bach, D.D.S.

John W. Bach, 93, Lebanon, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.

Dr. Bach was born in Schweidnitz, Germany on December 25, 1915, the son of the late Rev. Carl E. and Paula E. (LaGrangke) Bach.

As a child Dr. Bach was educated in North Dakota and was a graduate of Dickinson College in North Dakota. He received a D.D.S. in 1949 from Indiana University. He practiced dentistry in Lebanon 1949 until his retirement in 1987. He had also taught for one day per week as a professor at the Indiana University School of Dentistry until he retired in 1987.

He was married to Rosie (Rubino) Bach in Lebanon, Indiana on March 28, 1951. Mrs. Bach preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 1999.

Dr. Bach served in the United States Army 1941-1945. He received five battle stars and served in Tunisia, Sicily, Naples, Rome, and Germany.

John was a devoted husband and an avid Indiana University advocate. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Lebanon Elks Lodge, American Legion in Lebanon and Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. He also was a long standing and former member of Ulen Country Club where he and his wife had enjoyed many years of golf and social activity.

Survivors include step-daughter Rosemary (husband Robert) Lineback of Frankfort; brother Emanuel Frank (wife Roberta) Bach, Ellenburg, Wash.; sister Christa E. Leno, Fargo, N.D.; two step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great grandchildren.

Visitation is planned for 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., in Lebanon. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Myers Chapel of Memories; the Rev. Douglas Sanders officiating. Interment will follow military rites at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.
