Clara M. Ferguson

Mrs. Clara M. Ferguson, 102, Plainfield, was called home to meet her Heavenly Father and much beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.  She was born in Boone County, Indiana, on Aug. 9, 1910, a daughter of the late Oscar Emil and Sarah Jane Elizabeth (Hypes) McCoy.

Clara graduated from Lebanon High School in 1929.  Bookkeeping was one of her best subjects, and it became her lifelong occupation. She worked for several General Motors car dealerships in Lebanon and Indianapolis over 47 years.

On June 24, 1945, she was married to Paul Ferguson in Greenwood. Mr. Ferguson passed away on March 17, 1979. They moved from Indianapolis to Plainfield in 1951. They were married for 33 years. She was a servant of the Lord for many years at Plainfield Christian Church and served as a volunteer in the office after she retired. Over the last 30 years, she lovingly cared for and blessed her adopted family; she will be greatly missed.

Though Clara had no children of her own, she was blessed with an “adopted” son, Tim (Beth) Gephart of Plainfield and “adopted” daughter, Christine (Craig) Kessler of Frankfort, Kentucky.  Thus, God blessed her with three granddaughters, one grandson, and one great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters, and a brother.

Her Heavenly Homegoing Celebration will be held at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 21.  Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. with services at 4 p.m.  A private graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 West 96th Street, Suite 100 Indianapolis, Indiana 46278; or to the American Heart Association, 6100 West 96th Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, Indiana  46278 – 6005.
