Glendon Otis Griffith

Glendon Otis Griffith, 81, of Lebanon, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Homewood Health Care in Lebanon. The son of Otis Russell and Mona (Harlan) Griffith, Glendon was born May 13, 1931, in Lizton, Indiana. Glendon graduated from the Lizton High School in 1949. On July 25, 1981, he married Carol (Straesser) Allison in Lebanon. Glendon worked as an Assistant Land Surveyor at Anderson & Associates in Lebanon for 46 years, he retired in 2009. Glendon was an avid genealogist, enjoyed traveling, reading, carpentry, puttering on his farm and around the house, problem solving, loving grandfather and pet owner to his “fur kids.”

Survivors include his wife; sister Edna (Griffith) Keeney; daughters Mona Gay (Harvey) Stanbrough, Leisa Renee (Tom) Conway and Dorothy “Dori” Marie Griffith; stepson Rob (Lyn) Allison and stepdaughter Julie (Jim Zubak) Allison Young; grandchildren Jason Griffith (Brandy) Smith, Roy Douglas Stanbrough, Michael Brian Conway and Samantha Jean Conway; stepgrandchildren Matt Young, Anthony Allison, Jacob Allison; four other stepgrandsons and two stepgranddaughters; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; 10 nieces and nine nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his daughters Rhetas Hicks Griffith and one nephew.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. The Rev. Kurt Alexander will officiate his funeral service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, in the mortuary. Glendon will be laid to rest in the K of P Cemetery in Lizton.
