Donald R. Hedge

Donald R. Hedge, 58, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Don was born Nov. 27, 1953, at Witham Hospital in Lebanon, the son of Robert L. and Mary Ellen (Hamilton) Hedge. Don was reared and educated in Boone County having attended Lindberg School, graduating from Lebanon High School in 1972 and attended Indiana State University. Don married Ruth Dukes Hedge on April 22, 2009, she survives. Don worked as a carpenter with his brother, owned and operated a pizza parlor in Indianapolis, salesman with Blocks, Kauffman Engineering, TLC and most recently as a truck driver. His memberships included the VFW Post 910 in Lebanon, the Eagles Lodge in Lebanon and the Moose Lodge in Lebanon. Don served as Governor of the Moose Lodge three different terms. His hobbies included playing pool, golfing, sitting around the campfire and going to casinos.

Survivors include his father Robert L. (Ella) Hedge of Lebanon; son Brian (Melissa) Hedge of Indianapolis; stepchildren Chris (Ronna) Gordon of Lebanon and Paula (Troy) Blakenship of Brookston; siblings Dale Hedge of Cincinnati, Linda Thoman of Brownsburg and Jerry Hedge of Lebanon; seven grandchildren and the mother of his son Mary Hedge of Indianapolis.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Tanselle officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. There will be private family graveside services.
