George Edward “Ed” Droeger, 84, Lebanon, died Thursday morning, Feb. 21, 2013, at his home in Lebanon.
Mr. Droeger was born in Indianapolis on Dec. 28, 1928, the son of the late George and Hattie (DeWitt) Droeger.
Reared and educated in Marion County, Mr. Droeger graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1944. He received a B.S. Degree from Butler University in 1949.
Following school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Korean War.
On Aug. 5, 1950, he was married to Neva Jean (Petrie) Droeger in Indianapolis. Mrs. Droeger survives.
Beginning in 1952, Ed established himself as a respected and successful participant in the cattle industry in which he was active for 61 years. He remained active until just a month ago as a cattle buyer.
As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather Ed was dedicated to his family and enjoyed attending the various sporting events in which his grandchildren were participants. Playing golf was of great interest to Ed.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Noblesville.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Neva J. Droeger of Lebanon; a son, Mr. Edward B. Droeger and wife, Jeannine, of Lebanon; a daughter, Mrs. Joy A. Fey and husband, Joseph, of Bellevue, Wash.; a brother, Mr. William Droeger and wife, Barbara, of Greenwood, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a daughter, Ms. DiAnne S. Glas.
Memorial services are planned for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., in Lebanon, with Pastor Lee Faust officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the mortuary in Lebanon.
