Mrs. Mary Frances Martin, 92, of Bowling Green, Ind., formerly of Boone County, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Owen Valley Health Campus.
Mrs. Martin was born in Boone County on Jan. 24, 1921, to Virgil and Mary (Steelsmith) Harlos. She graduated in 1939 from Jackson Township High School in Boone County.
She was a homemaker, loved to read, enjoyed raising chickens and watching the farm animals. She was a wonderful cook, always making extra for church and school socials.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the Patricksburg United Methodist Church, active in the Patricksburg PTA, and served as the Morgan Township Trustee for 20 years.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel (Patricia) Martin of Aurora, Colo., and John Martin of Patricksburg; daughter, Tressa (Mark) Dyer of Clay City; brother, James Harlos of Advance; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emerald “EJ” Martin in 1975; son, Don Martin; daughter, Marvin “Marty” Myers; brothers, Glen, Charles, Marvin, Leon and William Harlos; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Ralph Roach officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
