1909-2009

Mrs. Helena Elizabeth King, 100, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Carmel.

Helena was born on Aug. 1, 1909, in Dearing, Kan., to Caroline and E. Martin Michel. She moved to Carthage, Miss., when she was 7. She was a graduate of Carthage High School and Stephens College in Columbia, Miss.

In 1960 she and her husband, Riley King, moved their family from Carthage to Lebanon. Mr. King preceded her in death.

Helena was very active in the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon for 50 years. She served as deacon and elder, and was active in the Presbyterian Women’s Association. She was also the recipient of the Honorary Life Membership Pin.

She belonged to Tourist Club and Seminar, and volunteered as a Gray Lady at Witham Hospital for many years. She loved her many bridge friends and her wonderful Ulen neighbors.

Helena was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Edwin Michel, and by her devoted husband.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Robert) Moeller, grandsons, Mike (Emily) and Justin Moeller, and great-grandson, Noah, all of Carmel; and nephew, Dr. William (Sunny) Michel of Carthage.

Helena was a lovely, gracious lady. She celebrated her 100th birthday in August, surrounded by family and friends at Ulen Country Club. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family meant everything to her and she to them.

Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 128 E. Main St., Lebanon. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 128 W. Main St., Lebanon, IN 46052.
