Evelyn M. Pollard of Thorntown died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Hickory Creek Nursing Facility in Lebanon. She was 71.
Born Aug. 21, 1938, in Frankfort, she was the daughter of Francis and Florence (Carr) Ostler; they preceded her in death. She married Carmen M. Pollard in Brookston on March 5, 1960; he died Sept. 28, 2002.
She graduated Frankfort High School in 1956, and worked for National Cigar Factory, Woolworth’s in Frankfort, and then she helped her husband on the farm in Washington Township for many years. She was known for her “Evie” cakes. She was a Republican committeewoman for Washington Township. She moved to Florida in 1995, then back to Thorntown in 2002. She was member of Pleasant Hill Church in Thorntown and Countryside Christian Fellowship in Lebanon. She was Washington Township Trustee and a WeBo Band Booster.
Survivors include son, Brad (wife Carrie) Pollard of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Connie (husband Lonzie) Goode of Thorntown; grandchildren, Carmine (fiancé Scott) Goode of Attica, Katherine Goode of Thorntown, Jacob Pollard, a U.S. Marine Corps member in California; and great-grandchild, Corbin Tylor Goode.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter and one sister.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Countryside Christian Fellowship. Services will immediately follow; the Rev. Andrew Bowen officiating.
