Fred A. Patrick


Mr. Fred A. Patrick, 88, of Monrovia, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville.

Mr. Patrick was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Monrovia, the son of the late Gerna and Vera (Stanley) Patrick. He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1940.

He married Mary Jo Bodenhamer on May 28, 1942, in Monrovia; she survives.

Survivors include his wife, who resides in Monrovia; one son, Mike (Judy) Patrick of Monrovia; two daughters, Shelly (Mike) Shuler of Indianapolis and Marcy (David) Patrick of Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Ann Cox of Monrovia; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one foster son, Gene Greeson; two brothers, Gene and Hugh Patrick; and one grandson, Brian Shuler.

Mr. Patrick was a lifelong resident of Monrovia and was a farmer most of his life. He also was a school bus driver for 28 years for Monroe-Gregg Schools, retiring in 1979.

He was a member of the Monrovia United Methodist Church. He also was a member and past master of Monrovia Masonic Lodge #654, past worthy patron of Monrovia Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Murat Shrine.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 5, and noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the mortuary, with the Rev. Gordon Esterline and the Rev. David Patrick officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall, Ind.
