Delephine Blazier

Delephine Blazier, 73, of Sheridan, passed away Monday, May 11, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation - Parkwood, Lebanon, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1939, at Johnson’s Mill in Lee County, Va., the daughter of Judge Finley and Cornie Daisy (Vaughn) Light. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

Although she worked for several years as a machinist at Biddle Manufacturing Company in Sheridan, her top priority was always her family. As a homemaker, she was devoted to her husband and children and was a loving “mom-mom,” who delighted in spoiling each and every one of her grandchildren.

Delphine is survived by two sons, Edward (Janice) York of Whitestown and James Edward “Eddie” (Ruth Ann) Boggs of Sheridan; one daughter, Donna Lynn (Darrin) Blazier-Roys of Lebanon; 12 grandchildren, John, Joseph and Brandon York, Nathan Bougher, Brooklynn Martin, Darrah, Emmy and River Roys, Stephanie Jones, and Bridget, Jimmy and Dee Dee Boggs; and five great-great-grandchildren, Kanisha, Johnny and Jacob York, and Daphne and Destiny York. She is also survived by her sister, Lorraine Phelps of Noblesville; two stepbrothers, Paul (Virginia) Boggs of Tennessee, and Clifford Boggs of Alabama; one stepsister, Susan Middleton of Virginia; many nieces and nephews; and Tisha, her beloved “pug.”

She was preceded in death by both parents; first husband, Ernest Edward York in 1987; second husband, Donald A. Blazier in 2003; grandson, Joshua Tyler Blazier; brother, Enoch Burton Light; and a sister, Vella Lee Houston.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Martin officiating. Burial will be at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan.
