Opal J. Osborne

Opal J. Osborne, 93, of Thorntown, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon.

She was born on Feb. 7, 1921, in Thorntown, the daughter of Roy Fairfield and Bessie Veach. She married Charles Osborne on March 9, 1940, in Thorntown. Mr. Osborne died on Sept. 23, 1993.

Opal was a homemaker and was a member of the Thorntown Baptist Church and the Thorntown Widows Ladies Fellowship. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, baking, and she loved to be with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include son David (Marcia) Osborne, Thorntown; daughters Alice (Paul) Jones, Thorntown, and Nancy Potts, Augusta, Ky.; sisters Aletha Ecoff, Indianapolis, and Janet Osborne, Thorntown; brother Rev. Lawrence (Wilma) Fairfield, Thorntown; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; three sisters, Lela Louis, Ester Facicett, and Mary Martin; half-brother Wilbert Padgett; and grandson Kirk.

Calling will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Russell & Hitch, Thorntown.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lawrence Fairfield officiating.

Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
