Maxine M. Hubble


— Maxine M. Hubble, 90, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Witham Hospital in Lebanon. 

Maxine was born May 16, 1920, in Boone County to the late Alva Henry and Nova Esther (Evans) Miller. 

On July 20, 1939, Maxine married Russel Howard Hubble at her parent’s home north of Pittsboro. She has lived in Lebanon since 1944 except one year in Colfax and previously in Pittsboro, Brownsburg and Danville, in Hendricks County, where she did housekeeping.

She worked at Hubble’s Big 4 grocery store from 1944-1951; Adler’s Dress Shop for two years; Wal-Mart; Frankfort Printing for five years; J.C. Penney’s for five years, and Jones Burgess Insurance and Farm Bureau Insurance in Indianapolis as an administrative assistant for 17 years, until her retirement. 

Her memberships include Rebekah’s for 50-plus years, having served as state president; Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant; Ladies Encampment Auxiliary; Women of the Moose for more than 50 years; College Regents of the Moose, and Moose Academy of Friendship. Her hobbies include crafts, family and arranging flowers. 

Survivors include her husband; children, Madolin (Jim) Cox of Lebanon and Russel Howard “Rusty” Hubble II of Frankfort; grandchildren, Yetive A. Cox of Thorntown and Russel H. “Harry” Hubble III of Frankfort; great-grandchild, Dustin L. Cox of Illinois; brother, Bob (Marjorie) Miller of Lebanon; sister, Bonnie (Isaac) Schenck of Pittsboro, and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by a brother, Myron M. Miller. 

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 4 until 8 p.m. with funeral service on Friday, Sept. 10, at 10:30 a.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.  Maxine will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
