Mrs. Ethel Marie Rose, 80, of Lebanon, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at home.
Mrs. Rose was born July 15, 1929, in Clinton County near Kirklin, the daughter of the late Fred Ray and Emily Jane (Purciful) Douglass. She was a graduate of Kirklin High School.
On May 28, 1949, she married Freddie Lee Rose in Kirklin. Mr. Rose died on Dec. 1, 2009.
Following her marriage, Mrs. Rose continued to reside in Kirklin until the family moved to Lebanon in 1956. She then spent twenty years near Lizton and returned to Lebanon in 1995, where she had since resided.
Mrs. Rose was employed at Mallory’s in Frankfort and later at Pitman-Moore in Zionsville. She then worked from her home as a seamstress, making draperies for her clients.
As a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Rose enjoyed her family and grandchildren. Other interests included sewing, cooking, reading, yardwork and family gatherings.
She was a member of the Baptist faith and she enjoyed attending church.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon A. “Sherry” Logan and husband, Lloyd L., of Porter, Texas; one son, Freddie B. “Fritz” Rose and wife, Ethel M, of Lebanon; brothers, Keith Douglass and wife, Jo Jo, of Sinten, Texas, Bill Douglass and wife, Virginia, of Kokomo, and Don Douglass and wife, Deanna, of Lizton; sister, Violet Allen of Lebanon; brother-in-law, Morris Finch of Crawfordsville; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Rose of Lebanon, Anna Belle Douglass of Kirklin and Beverly Douglass of Frankfort; five grandchildren, Michael T. Ayers of Houston, Texas, John G. Logan and wife, Triana, of Long Beach, Calif., Jennifer S. Logan and husband, Steve Borst, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Heidi M. Rose and Justin L. Rose, both of Lebanon; and one great- granddaughter, Marti Logan of Long Beach.
Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by brothers, Bob Douglass, Wayne Douglass, Carl Douglass and Harry Douglass; sisters, Helen Finch and Mae Shipley; brothers-in-law, Edgar Allen and Bob Shipley; and sisters-in-law, Mildred Douglass and Coleen Douglass.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Merv McNair officiating. Burial will follow at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
