Rosemary Behymer

— Mrs. Rosemary Behymer, 88, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Lebanon, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.

Mrs. Behymer was born May 30, 1924, in Bainbridge, a daughter of the now late Don and Martha Ellen (Shea) Smith. Reared and educated in Boone County, she was a 1942 graduate of Lebanon High School.

She married Ralph Wayne Behymer on Oct. 3, 1942, in Lafayette. Mr. Behymer passed away on April 20, 2006.

Mrs. Behymer was a resident of Lebanon for many years, and she worked at Winkler’s for five years. For 27 years, she was the executive secretary to the administrator at United Methodist Children’s Home in Lebanon. After she and her husband moved to Bradenton in 1987, she was involved with various committees and activities within the park where they lived.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed the time spent with her family. She was a dedicated member of First Community Church and Kappa Delta Phi sorority, both of Lebanon. While still in Lebanon, for many years she remained an active volunteer as a Gray Lady at Witham Memorial Hospital, and enjoyed playing cards with the “bid-chat bridge club.”

Survivors include two children, Tresa A. Rank of Bradenton and Michael W. (Kathryn) Behymer of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Matthew Behymer, Shelly (Rick) Underwood, Tricia (Rick) Ondich, Craig (Melonee) Hahn, Micha (David) Ligon and Ashley (Arman) Hakimian; and three great-grandchildren, Cassidy Underwood, Haley Hahn and Hayden Michael Ligon.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Mary Louise Smith.

Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov 12, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Marcy Patrick officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
