Ms. Hazel E. Hightower, 81, of Lebanon, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Hickory Creek at Lebanon.
Hazel was born in Lafayette, Tenn., on Aug. 18, 1931. She was the daughter of the now late Johnnie Bedford and Mattie Jane (Brawner) Hutcherson.
Hazel’s early years were spent in Lafayette. At the age of 13, she moved to Indianapolis.

In Indianapolis, Hazel worked in the cafeteria at Chevrolet for 24 years. For a period, she worked at RCA, Capitol Press & Printing Company and H&H Book Bindery. In 1972, after moving to Lebanon, she went to work for Shumate Business Forms as a JCM Operator in the Bindery Department; she retired from there in 1993.
Hazel was a planner and organizer. She always knew what she wanted and worked toward that goal. She was a thoughtful person who always made time to send a card to family and friends. Hazel enjoyed embroidery, flower gardening, sewing, and when time allowed, traveling to different places.
She was a member of the New Hope Christian Church in Whitestown, the Order of the Eastern Star in Whitestown, and was a former member of the Singles Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Ann Warren of Thorntown and Merinda Lynn Hightower of Lafayette, Tenn.; granddaughter, Whitney (Jason) Whitlow of Charlotte, N.C.; great-grandson, Cole Whitlow of Charlotte; and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by two brothers, Elzie Adam Hutcherson and Jack Randel Hutcherson; and two sisters, Ova May Kemp and Magie Ruline Wyatte.
