Maurine Gillaspie Brewer


— Maurine Gillaspie Brewer, 85, of Zionsville, died Sept. 5, 2010. 

The daughter of the late Norval and Leona (Conn) Gillaspie, Maurine was a graduate of Zionsville High School. She married her husband of 53 1⁄2 years, Joseph R Brewer, on Oct. 29, 1950.

As a young woman, Maurine worked at Indiana Bell, but her true calling was that of wife, mother and homemaker. 

Maurine was a long-time member of Zionsville Christian Church. She was active in the Women’s Group of Ashville (Ohio), enjoyed playing bridge, and was a volunteer for Girl Scouts.

Maurine is survived by her daughter, Cathy and son-in-law, Arnold Reusch; grandsons Jason, Jonathan and David Reusch, and great grandchildren Robbie and Caroline. Her brother, Manford “Gus” Gillaspie of Astoria, Fla., also survives. 

Maurine was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2004.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Flanner and Buchanan Zionsville Funeral Center.

Maurine’s funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Zionsville Christian Church, with calling one hour prior to the service. 

Burial will follow at Zionsville Cemetery.
