Co-Alliance offers scholarships

Co-Alliance LLP offers up to $20,000 a year in Solutions Scholarship Awards. The application is on the Co-Alliance Web site at www.co-alliance.com. The one-time awards are designated for high school seniors who plan to go into the study of agriculture.

Children and grandchildren of Co-Alliance cooperative members (Midland, IMPACT, LaPorte County, Frontier and Excel Co-ops) are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a co-op member to earn the award. The application deadline is April 30.

Many of the leaders within FFA are the same students who earn these Co-Alliance awards. In the last two years, the company has returned more than $46,000 to local communities through academic scholarships.

Indiana Sheriffs’ Association offers scholarships

The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association will award college scholarships to qualified high school seniors or college students who are persuing a degree in criminal justice studies. Approximately 40 scholarships of $500 will be awarded to qualifying students in the state.

To qualify, the applicant must be an Indiana resident, a current member of the association or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member, attend an Indiana college or univerisity, major in a law enforcement field and be enrolled as a full-time student.

“I have had the honor of awarding ISA scholarships to Boone County students in the last several years,” said Sheriff Ken Campbell. “Please take advantage of this opportunity.”

Applications are available from high school counselors, from the sheriff’s office, or by writing to the ISA, P.O. Box 19127, Indianapolis IN 46219. Applications must be completed and received by the ISA on or before April 1.

Ball State announces graduates

Following is a list of Boone County students, listed by city or town and degree, who graduated from Ball State University in fall 2009.

Lebanon — bachelor of arts, Clifton French; bachelor of science, Drew Droeger; master of arts, Baili French; master of arts in education, Kimberly Lahrman. Sheridan— bachelor of science, Jill Cunningham. Thorntown — master of science, Tonja Padgett. Whitestown — bachelor of arts, Jarred Rose; master of arts, Kathryn McElroy. Zionsville — bachelor of science, Kelly Boden and Rachael Murphy.

UIndy dean's list and honor roll

Several Boone County residents have been named to the 2009 fall sememster dean’s list or honor roll at the University of Indianapolis. Students named to the dean’s list have completed at least 12 hours during a regular semester and earned a grade point average of 3.7 or higher. They are, Ronni Hargis, Kelsey Large, Jared Shue and Bethany Walters of Lebanon; and Cara Shackelford and Dorothy Tokar of Zionsville.

Honor roll students have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours and earned a grade point average of at least 3.4 but less than 3.7. They are, Austin Davis and Elizabeth Knox of Lebanon; and Adam Beaver, Mallory Elliott, Alexandria Slegers and Ingeborg Selgersk, of Zionsville.

4-H scholarship applications due

Boone County 4-H members who are seniors in high school are reminded that all 4-H scholarship applications are due in the extension office no later than March 1. Scholarships available to 4-H seniors include the Boone County 4-H Booster Club, Boone County Pork Producers, Boone County Beef Producers, Boone County Junior Leaders, Darrell A. Portell 4-H Memorial Scholarship, Boone County 4-H Horse and Pony, Boone County Dairy Promoters, and Boone County 4-H Cat Scholarship.

Lebanon resident on honor roll at University High School

Ashley Conard of Lebanon was named to the honor roll at University High School for the fall 2009 semester. Honor roll status is awarded to students making between a 3.3 and 3.7 GPA. Conard is a senior at the college preparatory school located in Carmel.

University High School is a non-sectarian independent college preparatory school in Carmel.
