Danville — Danville — After Tuesday’s win against Southmont, Lebanon boys’ basketball coach Tom Johnson wasn’t satisfied with his team’s defense effort.
Friday was a new day. The Tigers forced 15 turnovers in the second and third quarters and held North Montgomery without a field goal for 8:13 as Lebanon advanced to tonight’s sectional title game against Danville with a 69-47 victory against defending sectional champion North Montgomery.
“We had some luck the first time we played them pressuring them in the full court,” Johnson said. “We thought it was something we could go back to. I was more concerned with how we were going to play in our half-court defense and I was pleased with that the first quarter and a half and we switched and went after them. When we are good defensively we are a pretty good club.”
After North Montgomery’s Andrew Airey made the score 19-18 in favor of the Chargers with 1:56 remaining in the first half, Lebanon took over.
The Tigers made four free throws to close out the first half and then scored the first eight points in the second half to grab a 30-19 lead.
